Middlebury basketball teams take care of Skidmore

71 points was enough for both Middlebury basketball squads to take care of Skidmore in a Saturday double-header at home.

The men’s team trailed 11-10 in the first half, but rallied for 12 straight points and did not look back on the way to a 71-54 win.

Senior forward Eric McCord led the way for the Panthers, posting an impressive double-double with 18 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.

Midd improved to 6-2 and got the win heading into the holiday break. The Panthers will resume their season on New Year’s Day at home against SUNY Canton.

The game for the women’s matchup also started close, with Midd holding a very slim 21-20 advantage early in the second quarter. The team went on a run of its own, closing out the half on a 18-2 run and finishing strong to top Skidmore 71-45.

The Panthers finish the semester unbeaten at 8-0, and will jump back into play at Connecticut College on Janurary 4.
