BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Middlebury Tigers are champions once again.
Middlebury repeated as the Div. I girls lacrosse state champion with a 13-10 win over Champlain Valley Union Friday night.
The Tigers found themselves in an early 4-0 deficit against the CVU Redhawks, but the Tigers stormed back to take the lead with 6 unanswered goals.
CVU scored with less than a minute left in the first half to tie the game 7-7 at the break. The Redhawks kept it close down the stretch, coming back to knot the game again 10-10 late.
Middlebury prevailed with three straight goals in the final portion of the game to seal a 13-10 win and go back-to-back as state champions.
