The Lake Monsters and Yankees started Game 3 under light rain Wednesday night at Centennial Field.
Staten Island got on the board first with a two-run home run, but Noah Vaughan answered with a two-run bomb of his own in the bottom of the first inning.
Then, the Monsters took the lead on a Lawrence Butler single in the bottom of the second inning. Vermont made it a big inning, scoring five runs in the frame, and following with a seven-run third inning.
The high-powered Vermont offense resulted in a 14-10 win for the Monsters.
Vermont will return to Centennial Field on Sunday, August 11 for a tilt with Aberdeen at 5:05 p.m.
