For the third season in a row, Mt. Abraham softball earned a spot in the state championship, this time against the Otters of Otter Valley.
After a few close early innings, the No. 1 Eagles dominated the day, chalking up five runs on five hits in a massive fifth inning on the way to a 9-1 win over No. 2 Otter Valley.
The Eagles’ pitcher Ruby Ball was efficient on both sides of the ball. She tossed 7 innings of softball, only allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 9 batters. Ball also put up great numbers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI.
Mt. Abraham’s Erika Tracey contributed to the potent offense with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Eagles’ 9-1 win sealed their third-straight state championship.
