The Norwich and Castleton men’s lacrosse teams became fundraising partners to honor a former Cadet lacrosse player, Connor Roberts, who lost his life to a fatal heart attack in 2014.
However, each year the two Vermont squads renew their rivalry on the lacrosse field in the annual Connor Roberts Memorial Game.
Norwich came out on top in the 2019 edition of the contest in a 13-5 triumph over Castleton at Sabine Field Wednesday evening.
The Cadets opened the game with three consecutive goals until Castleton’s Luc Issa broke through to make it 3-1 to close the first quarter.
Norwich stormed ahead in the second quarter, building an 8-3 advantage. Cody Moore notched a game-high three goals in the win for the Cadets.
Castleton dropped to 4-10 overall while Norwich improved to 8-4.
