Coming off of its National Championship campaign, the Syracuse University men’s cross country team is entering the 2016 season ranked No. 1.
Last year marked the first time that the program had earned the top spot in the USTFCCCA.
This year, the Orange received 11 of 12 first-place votes – finishing just ahead of No. 2 Oregon.
Three All-Americans are returning to SU’s roster.
Justyn Knight (fourth overall), Colin Bennie (eighth overall), and Philo Germano (39th overall) each earned USTFCCCA All-America accolades last season.
The SU women’s team also received preseason honors.
The Orange women’s team enters the season ranked No. 15 in the nation.
Northern Arizona, Stanford, and Colorado ranked out the men’s top five.
New Mexico took the preseason No. 1 spot among the women’s teams.
Colorado, Providence, Oregon, and NC State rounded out the women’s top five.
