The Plattsburgh women’s hockey team is welcome back one of their very own as the new assistant coach of the program. Julia Duquette returns to the Cardinals squad for the 2019-20 season.
The 2017 graduate finished her college hockey career as a four-time National Champion. Duquette is part of the only four-peat in NCAA hockey history. She suited up for 114 games in the red and white, and scored a goal in the final seconds of the 2017 National Championship to send the game into overtime. Duquette earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration and marketing from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2017.
Duquette has spent the past two seasons coaching a U-16 team in Rochester. She joins the coaching staff just two years removed from the program. Duquette has the benefit to coach some of the player she was on the ice with during her senior season.
“They know how I am, they know my style, they know my personality. There’s not going to be too tough of a transition when this year begins because I do know a lot of them. A lot of them I’ve known for a few years now, I’ve played with the senior class. I think it’s really important and it’s just an added bonus” said Duquette.
You can catch Duquette behind the bench when Plattsburgh opens home action with an exhibition game against the Ottowa Lady 67’s on October 26th.
