Richards two-run homer sends Lake Monsters past Batavia

Sports

The Vermont Lake Monsters are hosting the Batavia Muckdogs for a three game series at Centennial. Vermont has three wins so far in the month of July but, facing one of the top teams in the league the Lake Monsters entered this one firing.

Celebrating Wizard night at Centennial, a wizard threw out the first pitch and Champ was dressed in his cape and wizard hat.

Hogan Harris started out on the mound. He only allowed one hit, two walks, and six strikeouts over three scoreless innings.

In the bottom of the second inning, Kevin Richards sent a Jackson Rose pitch deep into left field and raked it out of the yard. A two-run round trip put the Monsters up 2-0.

The Lake Monsters improve to 12-17 on the season.

Vermont will host Batavia Sunday as well. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. at Centennial Field.
