South Burlington girls’ lax completes perfect season

South Burlington entered Virtue Field Saturday afternoon with hopes of going undefeated in the 2019 season.

The Wolves were only one win away from perfection, coming into the state title game with a record of 18-0.

The challenger Burr & Burton was the two seed, aspiring to upset the rock-solid South Burlington squad.

The Wolves opened the contest with three-straight goals, but the Bulldogs didn’t stay quiet for long. They came within two goals and then within one in the final minutes of the match, but ultimately couldn’t surpass South Burlington.

The Wolves ran away with an 8-7 state championship win and a perfect 19-0 record. It was the Wolves’ first title since 2014.
