Stowe boys’ lacrosse claims D2 state title


No. 3 Harwood Union faced No. 4 Stowe for the division II state championship. 

Both teams entered halftime tied at two goals a piece, Stowe’s Clark Brown tossed in a low goal for the two goal advantage over the Highlanders. 

With just seconds left in the third quarter the game was tied 6-6. Stowe’s Kevin Crawford hung on to the ball and launched the shot making it 7-6 Stowe. The Raiders racked in nine goals in just the third quarter.  

In the fourth quarter, Luke Farley picked up a ground ball and darted his way to the net. The Stowe Raiders took a 8-6 lead. 

Final six minutes in the game, Clark Brown added a diving goal as Stowe took down Harwood 9-7 for the division II state title. 

“Starting out the year, it was a huge loss to Burlington. I never thought we’d be here. Look at this, it’s unbelievable. Look at the fans. Best day. It was a great game. We won the ground ball battle, out hustled them, that’s all it is” said senior captain Kevin Crawford.
