Top-seeded Essex walks off with quarterfinal win

The top-seeded Essex Hornets hosted the No. 8 seed Brattleboro Colonels for a Division I quarterfinal game on Friday.

Brattleboro opened up a 1-0 lead, and Essex countered with a run of its own shortly after.

Then in the top of the fifth inning, Mya McAuliffe smacked the ball way into the outfield for a three-run homerun for Brattleboro.

The Colonels led by as many as three runs, but the Hornets stormed back to win the game 5-4 on a walk-off walk.

The Hornets will play BFA-St. Albans on June 4th in the semifinals.
