The top-seeded Catamounts dominated the No. 7 Bearcats from start to finish.
Stef Smith sparked the scoring with a dagger three-pointer in the first 30 seconds of the game, and he didn’t stop shooting, or scoring.
The sophomore guard put on a shooting show with 28 points on 8-for-10 from deep. He also chalked up five rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Anthony Lamb was a key contributor as well, adding 18 points and seven assists to Vermont’s big night.
The Catamount bench came to play on Tuesday night. The non-starters scored 25 points, compared to just 14 bench points for the Bearcats. UVM also won the rebounding battle 33-20.
Vermont will play for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as it hosts UMBC for a rematch of the America East Championship on Saturday, March 16 at 11 a.m. at Patrick Gym.
