The Catamounts couldn’t quite finish things out against UMass Lowell in Gutterson Fieldhouse on Friday night.
UVM never trailed in the eventual 2-2 tie. Matt O’Donnell opened scoring less than seven minutes into the game, and Derek Lodermeier made it 2-1 with a tipped shot in the second.
Just 28 seconds later, the River Hawks’ Nick Master deflected a shot over Stefanos Lekkas’ to knot things back up at 2-2.
The remaining 43:50 of the game went scoreless, and sent the Cats into the offseason with a tie.
Lekkas made every start this season for Vermont, and the first since Brody Hoffman in 2012-13. Joey Cippilone and Matt O’Donnell were the only other Catamounts to play in every game, and O’Donnell ends his junior season with 79 straight games played.
Vermont finished the season 12-19-3 overall, and 5-16-3.
