Catamounts cruise past Warriors in "Rally Against Cancer" game

UVM men’s soccer welcomed the Merrimack Warriors for the annual “Rally Against Cancer” game at Virtue Field Saturday night.

The Catamounts broke through in the 39th minute when Merrimack was called for a hand ball in the box, resulting in a penalty kick for Vermont.

Ivar Orn Arnson slotted in the PK with ease and put the Cats ahead 1-0.

Vermont took that lead into the second half, and didn’t waste much time adding to it. Three minutes into the half, Jon Arnar Barddal threaded a pass through the Warriors defense and Rasmus Tobinski ran onto it and blasted in a goal to double UVM’s lead.

Tobinski added a second goal in the final minutes as Vermont sealed the 3-0 win over Merrimack.

Next up, the Catamounts open America East play at Stony Brook on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7:00 p.m.
