Three teams battled at Colchester High School on Tuesday to take the last spot in the finals.
Rutland Post 31 took on the Colchester Cannons to open the schedule, and Rutland rallied to erase a huge lead and defeat the host team.
The Cannons led 9-1 after four innings, but Post 31 outscored Colchester 12-3 in the remaning frames to win 13-11.
Rutland had to turn back around and face Brattleboro Post 5 in the second game of the day, but the same magic wasn’t there for the Post 31 squad.
Brattleboro overwhelmed Rutland from the get-go to take a 7-0 lead through four, but play was halted with over three hours of weather delays from that point on.
Post 5’s momentum wasn’t slowed down, and the Brattleboro squad tacked on some insurance to get the 10-0 victory and advance to the championship game.
Brattleboro will face undefeated S.D. Ireland on July 31, with the first game slated for 10 a.m. If Post 5 wins game one, a second contest is planned for 4 p.m. due to the double-elimination format of the tournament.
