Weather: A split weekend forecast

What a perfect summer day! Full sunshine, a few fair-weather clouds, dewpoints still very comfortable. What more could you ask for in Mid-July?

As advertised one or two stray showers may pop up especially over the higher elevations, and that exactly what has happened. Right over Schroon Lake a tiny rain shower has dampened your plans, but have no fear, you’ll be drying out overnight to mostly clear skies just like the rest of us.

A few areas of patchy fog may develop by daybreak Saturday, but give the sunshine a few minutes and everyone will be basking in the sunshine for the day. Just like Friday, Saturday does come with the slightest chance for an afternoon shower or two. No need to alter your plans, most will stay dry as temperatures climb to the upper 80’s and dewpoint remain in check for a little while longer.

Sunday starts off with partly to mostly sunny skies, but as you go towards the afternoon, a cold front approaches from the west. That front will bring us a much larger chance for showers and thunderstorms, some could be on the stronger side, with gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Keep an eye to the sky if you have any outdoor plans for Sunday.
