1 single degree… that’s all that separated this latest stretch of hot weather from being dubbed a heatwave. To official see a heatwave, temperatures have to reach 90° or higher for 3 days in a row. In Burlington, we climbed to 89° on Tuesday, 91° on Wednesday, and we are forecasted to see temperatures above 90° for the day today! So close… but not a heatwave.
Friday will be another triple H day, Hazy, Hot, and Humid! Temperatures will make a run towards 90° and dewpoints could touch 70°, meaning things will feel downright sticky. A warm front pushes into the area and kicks off a few summertime thunderstorms during the afternoon, featuring gusty winds and heavy rain. Those storms should simmer down after dark tonight, with just a few light showers left over.
The cold front with this systems slowly swings through during the day Saturday, causing another round of showers and storms to bubble up by mid-morning and into early afternoon.
Here’s how the next couple of days are shaping up
Today: Mix of sun and clouds with showers and storms bubbling up by early afternoon. Temperatures climb to the upper 80’s to low 90’s
