A departing cold front will initiate a big cool down featuring lesser humidity and eventually some more breaks of sunshine alongside drier weather through Thursday. However, we do have a few spot showers to contend with today before breaking through to the drier weather for tomorrow.
This morning, temperatures are 5 to 15 degrees cooler now than 24 hours ago. We’re beginning the day with mostly cloudy skies, scattered showers, high humidity, and temperatures in the 50s/60s. You’ll want to be sure to have the umbrella on standby for your morning commute to school or work.
Our afternoon will offer up highs in the upper 70s to low 80s alongside a few breaks of sunshine especially around lunchtime. The sunshine will be mixed with a few showers and an isolated downpour. The additional shower activity will stem from a passing trough of low pressure late in the day. Nevertheless, we will dry out overnight with lows bottoming out in the 40s/50s.
Thursday will be a much better day with highs only returning to the upper 60s to low 70s. Partly sunny skies are in store for “little Friday” along with some fall-like feels. A perfect day to grab one of those pumpkin spice lattes.
Lastly, a sneak peek at the upcoming holiday weekend shows that sunshine will dominate the forecast much of the time. However, we can’t rule out a stray shower/storm Sunday into Monday as a cold front sinks south across the North Country and the Upper Valley. Enjoy the “last weekend of summer”!
