Dangerous heat is on for the day Friday and through the weekend, as temperatures surge into the low 90’s and dewpoints climb into the 70’s.
Out there this evening itis quiet, with partly clear skies and temperatures falling back into the upper 60’s to low 70’s.
That will be our jumping-off point as temperatures climb into the upper 80’s and low 90’s, and our heat index values climb into the mid 90’s. When it the atmosphere get that hot and humid, it doesn’t take much for a quick shower or thunderstorm to bubble up across the area.
Saturday is the day that we seeing the hottest temperatures and the stickiest dewpoints, and the highest heat index values, climbing, in many spots, to the upper 90’s to low 100’s. During the late afternoon, a cold front will pass through the region, firing off some strong to severe storms.
That cold front doesn’t really live up to its name because it doesn’t really bring us any change to the forecast. Sunday is looking just as sticky and nearly as hot, it’s not until Monday that we see some relief from the swelter with temperatures climbing to the low 80’s and dewpoints in the 50’s. AHHH
